Late Shri Popatlal Dhanjibhai Malaviya a leading businessman and philanthropist of saurashtra founded the college by his genorous donation. He had been one of the most revered persons and leading patrons in pre- independent saurashtra state.He struggled a lot during the struggle of  “responsible Government” Malaviya campus is really inspired by his eternal spirit andmarching ahead confidently.
The visionary founders of this college identified the academic needs of the region in the field of commerce and business in as early as in 1957. Business skills, mingled with entrepreneurial orientation are the basic characteristic traits of the people of this state and catering to such educational needs of the region of Saurashtra was a daunting challenge.
   
Ourfounders ventured into establishing the first degree college of its type in the region in the field of commerce which was christened as ShriP. D. Malaviya College of  Commerce (PDMCC) after its fond founderReverend (Late) Shri Popatlal Dhanjibhai Malaviya. The mission was to channelize and prepare human resources by rising to the region’s needs. The college has been producing, since its inception, multitudinous commerce graduates skilled to take on the business world. Today the college can proudly enumerate individual examples that are proving to bethe propelling force in the field. Our endeavor, as it has always been,is to make a mark in commerce education and to make the PDMCC a lastingand enduring brand-name and a much sought after institute of commerce. And along with, we also look forward to go into the diversified avenues of commerce education with the changing scenario of globalization and new trade policies.
